Flu Fighting Foods!


With Winter well and truly settled in and noses running cold we all need an immune boost. Here are some of Revival’s recommended foods to help keep your immune system strong!




Garlic contains an ingredient called allicin which gives it antibacterial and antimicrobial qualities. Studies have shown that people consuming garlic supplements exerienced less frequent and severe colds compared to those who didn’t. Garlic is also great for enhancing healthy gut flora which helps to flush the body of bacteria, viruses and toxins.






Turmeric is a rich powder that is often used in dishes such as curries. It is considered a natural anti inflammatory and has been used for it’s antioxidant qualities for many years. Try it with your next curry dish for a fast immunity boost!



Dark Leafy Greens


Dark leafy greens such as kale, swiss chard, arugula and spinach are very high in Vitamin C which, when regularly consumed in generous amounts, can reduce the time length of a common cold. A good tip to remember is the darker the greens – the more nutrition content. Try cooking up some vegetables with a hint of garlic to give your cold that extra kick!



Decaf Teas (Green or Black)


Green and black teas are very high in antioxidants, including L-theanine which is a great antioxidant to boost the immune system. Studies have shown that these teas can also help with symptoms such as sneezing, sore throats, tiredness and cold chills.



Sweet Potatoes


Sweet potatoes contain Vitamin A which helps to produce white blood cells in the body which are essential for our immune system.



Hot Water with Honey and Lemon


Studies have shown that honey can help soothe a sore throat as good as a cough medicine. Add some lemon to your hot water for a Vitamin C boost to give your body that extra bit of help!
